We cannot be importing steel from countries like China that in any type of controversy or conflict could cut us off.

US manufacturing standards are VERY STRICT regarding quality and consistency. Everything manufactured and built in America MUST meet exacting quality and specification standards.

If I take a dozen Chinese bolts that are supposedly torque-strength rated,
then torque them to 100% max torque strength specification,
