This is another example of how complying with Tha Police and backing down is not a guarantee that you will be treated fairly. In this case, and in a similar case involving the murder of Daniel Shaver, the result of surrendering to the government was death at the hands of governmental employees. Hands up, don't shoot? Sadly, if the victim had grabbed a gun and unloaded it at Tha Police who had entered his home illegally, he likely would've driven them out and progressed to a standoff. There are computer games that train players to not hurt or kill important characters such as informants. Maybe in Mobile Alabama and other places, Tha Police should play these games instead of attending "training" sessions.
