I am against cell phones for the young. TV, Music, their peers at school influence our children constantly.
A few years ago a friend told me her 13 year old daughter was caught sending pictures of her boobs and privates to boys she knew, and thought it fine because all the girls at her school were doing it too.
Morals and Manners need to become fashionable again. As well as teachers teaching the three R's, and leave the Morals and Manners to the parents, and the home phones home.

Personally I do not think it is wise for elementary aged students to have a phone. The education system needs to go back to hands on education in the classroom with personal interactions, book reading, drawing, writing, thinking activities. Parents need to step up and stop purchasing phones for young children. IMO, the brain development and coordination of a child's mind and body if not sufficiently utilized, will deteriorate or be weakened. Too much radiation from devices cannot be in the child's best interest. Also phones make a child more vulnerable to exploitation by criminals. 😉

Completely agree. We tried to get our son to delay giving his boys phones for those reasons. I asked him if he wanted them to continue to look into his eyes because the phone would stop that. He gave them phones and it wasn’t good.
Kids walking to and from elementary school half mile from me, some out the back window, some out the front on the sidewalk. ALL w/heads down looking at that Goddam phone. Every day the same and it drives me up a smooth wall.
Beyond that is ME. EVERY move I make consciously or not centers on that fucking phone.
How we break this is a mystery still, but I trust there is a plan
