IMO, They buy up homes so they can infiltrate nice, quiet neighborhoods by making then short term or long term rentals to disrupt the sense of community and to disturb the safety and culture of neighborhoods.
Well IMO it is worse. Many homes in nice areas are rented to many illegals and direct payments from the corrupt Gov. go to these companies.

Ah, yes that too. In my small town we had to fight our city council to restrict short term rentals in our residential neighborhoods. To not allow out of state entities to purchase homes, and to only have STR's is properly zoned areas that are zoned for commercial use. We filed two citizen initiatives and petitions. We finally won! It was a lot of work, but worth it. 😇
