My guess is the drones are searching for a nuke....we probably got intel that a nuke was smuggled into the US...that would explaining NJ/NY are due to the ports and why the drones are flying a grid pattern.....it also explains why the government is not releasing info about the drone.....the panic would be very very bad.....
My Q why would any gov drone have massive blinking lights (sometimes nav type lites) seen for miles or an enemy for that matter seems stupid if you are at all trying to be covert. Looks to me the point was to be seen by as many as possible...
