Some think Jesus came just to give us a path to heaven when we die, but the much bigger picture is He came to set the captives free right now! ⛓️
He defeated death, then gave us the Holy Spirit to teach and protect us.
The full armor paints a picture of the depth of it's purpose. When contemplating each part, we see that each is protective. However, one is a weapon -- the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. 🗡️ It's a double-edge sword (cuts going in and coming out) and is powerful!
Years ago, shortly after my eyes were opened to these things, all I had was surface knowledge, but I was about to gain an immersive experience that opened up a depth of understanding.
One evening at work, as I was about to close the store, a man came in that made the hair on my arms stand up.
When I asked what I could help him find, in a creepy sniveling voice he said, ⬇️
"Yeah, I'm looking for something for my girlfriend. I asked what kinds of things she liked. He said, "Disney; yeah she likes Disney." When I showed him the Disney items, he didn't even look (because that wasn't really why he came in), then said, "No no no, nothing like that; she's really young, and I need something to get her in the mood." I felt the evil, and fear rose up in me. My thoughts raced to plan my escape.
Suddenly fear was pushed away, and I pointed my finger at that man's face as my mouth opened, speaking scriptures I hadn't yet learned. Fear was in him then; he looked like he was being slashed as he backed out of the store, with me in his face. When the door shut, I quickly locked it. Then I thought, "WHAT JUST HAPPENED???" Then I saw the full armor of God and the sword, and the words "No fear; I've got this."
Still makes me emotional when I remember it 💖
God says do not fear, and be bold as lions.
He provides it; all we have to do is accept it. 😇
