Yep, I worked at McDonald's in the mid-80's, and I can say with certainty that the deep fryers were filled from jugs of solidified animal fat.
It said so right on the label.
Anyone who saves and stores bacon grease knows what I'm talking about.
I loved McD french Fries that was fried in the Animal Fat. Stayed Crispy so long and was so delicious! Nowdays they are limp and unappealing.
