I would be very OK with a 14% - 17% NESARA-style national sales tax on NEW, NON-ESSENTIAL ITEMS ONLY.
Think of it: NO sales tax on anything essential, or anything used, like: USED homes, cars, whatever...
No taxes on food or meds, not even fuel or restaurants cuz they are essential.
Maybe 1 new car also "essential"?
Maybe a new home "essential"?
But if you wanna buy that brand new BASS PRO FISHING BOAT just for fun, then pay a tax that actually goes truly to our 90% smaller essential-functions-only government.
But then again, maybe TARIFFS cover all that.
We just have to see how President & CIC Trump puts it all together.

Essentially luxury items. Not essential items for standard things. It will be explained in detail. More if a spending tax.

What it is is a Consumption Tax, and especially when levied on "non-essential new items" it encourages Folks to do two things:
1) BUY USED, which makes more sense cuz it saves money (many millionaires never buy NEW stuff all the time, but buy used after the first buyer took the depreciation loss), but it also keeps things in use longer (like not buying a new car every 4 years - I grew up owning the same car/truck and putting 2-3 engines in it for example), and it saves resources - like buying a used home and fixing it up, or go buy that used boat, fix it up, or buy that used 1967 Corvette and fix it up. NO TAX. Fixing things UP usually takes less resources than manufacturing brand new things.
2) BUILD SAVINGS: discourages impulse buying cuz the tax makes people stop and think if they really need it or really, really want it. Consumption tax encourages SAVINGS by reducing impulse buying brand new "luxury" stuff all the time.
It's quite brilliant.
