I was a Disney kid, too, growing up in the 60s & 70s.
I am willing to believe it, but I am not yet convinced "Uncle Walt" was an evil person for two main reasons.
1) Disney movies were SO squeaky clean and wholesome while he was alive, it's hard to believe THAT fare was put out by someone evil. (After Disney died, the wholesome stuff wasn't doing well at the box office, so they started Touchstone for more PG-oriented material.)
2) There is a very powerful group that has run the movie business since its inception that was very angered by Walt's refusal to share his company's profits with Them and align with Them. Like Henry Ford, he spoke out against Them and was forever branded a "Nazi," "anti-semite" and the usual, reputation-destroying terms. For having the temerity to defy Them, it would not be unlike Them to decide to forever brand Disney's reputation in the most horrible way, a way that accuses him of doing exactly what THEY'RE doing -- a very familiar pattern of thei
