I read how the Mil tried to accelerate ending WW2 early with Operation Market Garden. This was an opportunity to provide an earlier than planned northern invasion path into Germany.
My understanding is that Mil planning is based on events. Although I never served, I understand that once operations begin re-planning happens frequently.
