The government should know some things about us bc they are responsible for protecting their citizens which is why they should be vetting at the border among other things they do. It is naive to think taking all that away will suddenly create a utopia. Private companies, NGOs, schools, hospitals, etc. should not be able to buy and sell our information without our consent, which is the problem as demonstrated by the targeted asset stripping going on.
