I do the same, and I am not autistic. People who are more relationship based will tend to do that. I do it with everything I try to relate to people through shared experiences. Don’t let people tell you who you are you are you and there’s nothing wrong with who you are. Those that want to criticize have their own issues to deal with.

I am not autistic either:) but some say i am both autistic, narsissistic and asbergers..they tried me as a schitzo. But i passed all the tests for 23 years

I do the same. My 17 yo child will say, this is not about you, mom 😳 then I explain, I’m not trying to get sympathy for myself, I’m only attempting to tell you, that I understand how you feel and why. I never mean for it to be about me but most times, if you say, I’m sorry, I know how you feel, people say, You don’t know how I feel in this situation. Does this make me a narcissist? I’ve lived 54 years, chances are, I will most times have a real life experience that matches the one she’s having. I tell her what worked or didn’t work for me, offer advice, then leave it alone.

We could say,they want all the focus and sympathy leads no where,but empathy does,and having experienced pain(like them) confirms that and sharing is giving faith back and that they not alone,but but we can do better 😂💀🫂
