Sara,, its likely best if you are relatively new, to just watch and observe... you are joining people who have been at this day in day out for several years... so we have seen a gazzillion people come in and make such comments...
It will be useful for you to pitch at your level... and learn where you can... but it would be remiss if you think that you could pursuade anyone not to see whats in front of their faces...
