There is a theory, idea, noting..... whatever, that hell is not the fire and brimstone place w/ lava pits, (possibly no) 'circles' or levels, frozen river of fire, or any of that other traditional stuff.
Among some (quasi-)theological circles, and those who studied the darker tings in nature. Hell's more of a void, or a feeling of loss aside from itself being a (meta)physical domain with the same attributes ..... it's a wasteland.
And yes, one has their own 'personal' hell.
A flood of false doctrine has lately broken in upon us all.. Men are beginning to tell us “that God is too merciful to punish souls for ever…that all mankind, however wicked and ungodly…will sooner or later be saved.” We are to embrace what is called “kinder theology,” and treat Hell as a pagan fable… This question lies at the very foundation of the whole Gospel. The moral attributes of God, His justice, His holiness, His purity, are all involved in it. The Scripture has spoken plainly and fully on the subject of Hell… If words mean anything, there is such a place as Hell. If texts are to be interpreted fairly, there are those who will be cast into it… The same Bible which teaches that God in mercy and compassion sent Christ to die for sinners, does also teach that God hates sin, and must from His very nature punish all who cleave to sin or refuse the salvation He has provided.
Sheol, Hades, Hell... is a real realm friend.

You are correct and I've been to my personal 'hell' and back.
I know it's a realm; I'm wondering 'in what form' ?
Can people be saved -though both active faith and works, and walking the road less traveled, or by some other deeds...I hope so.
Does God or the divine, only save vs human- yes that I do believe.
Only the Lord has the power to save or make soldiers out of the once 'unwashed'; while the self can only save the self.
God Bless

Good questions! The only salvation offered us as humans is by Jesus and acceptance of God's gift of His perfect sacrifice on that cross. No works or faith placed in those works can substitute for His perfect sacrifice.
If works alone (self help or good deeds) were enough, well... take a look around. We would have already failed! We also wouldn't have needed Jesus to die on that cross to pay the penalty laid upon us for our sinful nature. There is not one good person on this planet. Not by their own works can they please God.
The salvation God laid out for us all is simple faith in Him and accepting His gift of salvation through Jesus death, burial and resurrection. That's it. Nothing else will work in place of that. Salvation is that simple. Man adds to it creating confusion in the process. There is only one path to Heaven.
