I met him through Clayton George who lived across the street from me in Oak Cliff. He and Stevie would jam with Roy and Gypsy on a park bench at Stevens Park. I never imagined he would take the scene by storm the way he did. I didn't hang with him at school or nothing like that. Just at the park on occasion. Doing stuff 14 and 15 yr old kids weren't supposed to do but we didn't give a damn. Life was fun then. I tell people that story sometimes and I often get that yeah right look. IDC!
