Newer farm equipment is computer controlled; especially the no-till planters and the combines. Farmers have to update software with patches just like PC's. Sometimes John Deere or Agco is slow with updates or makes the software to compromise the equipment if non OEM parts are installed. Farmers seek our grey ware software to get into the fields when the weather allows.

This law is a big deal as it lets farmers legally 'jailbreak' their equipment much like people with cell phones to choose a network.

Big ag is a huge part of our current problems. This is a win.

Imagine how captured the state houses of TX, OK, KS, NE, SD, ND, IA, MO, MN, OH, IN, WI are to not have had similar laws passed a decade ago.
