Why is the school board on a platform, looking down on the parent, like royalty looking down on a commoner?
That needs fixing.
Every board does this intimidation and I agree it must end. The dept of education in my state does this when they hold a hearing to reaccredit a program in the university. They come in early and physically rearrange the room to give themselves intimidation status. Then they grill professors. It stinks.

Their table is on the same level as the audience... the members who are Conservative, remind the leftists, who their bosses are...
That’s good to know. Some boards are decent or at least abide by decency. More parents pushing back is needed.
Yes. Less money time and attention on 'athletics', which, after all, is just an entertainment.
They should use the time to teach about growing food, first aid, survival techniques, making clothing (sewing), fixing equipment... useful matters.
My husband teaches JROTC, and includes, resume writing, elevator speeches, public speaking, interview technique, basic finances, credit card, mortgages, insurance, as well as basic management techniques, starting with the Freshmen, and the 4 Lenses Psychological test.
As he has a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt too, he teaches about improving and streamlining processes as well.
The kids get a lot more than they expected... certainly more than marching and PT.
Most of them, have no difficulties getting jobs, or going on to college/military life.
However, the State Education admin is Democrat, so the rest of the school time is a fight to teach academics over indoctrination.
