By being anonymous, it removed ego from the equation. We serve a much higher purpose and many would call that serving God and not self.
As I stated prior when they told me pre net, "I for instance would be on a kill list" I have ALWAYS shown my face, because that AND because for decades of info....a way if someone tracked my info, some good ones, they would say yep that is her.
