The thing I’ve wondered about this is if there is a shutdown, wouldn’t you have to own Starlink to still have access?
I don't believe so, there has to be one in your area to connect to.

One theory (of many) is the air traffic stand down last week (first since 9/11) was to switch the ATC system over to Starlink (and catch a few bad guys trying to flee).
