I recently had to do the same thing, due to a 34 hour power outage. My insurance adjuster included $500 for all of the food in my storm damage claim.

I took photos and listed the lost food - but they may give you an amount to cover without that.

Sorry you lost your food - yes, it does make one feel wretched- particularly the prepared frozen stuff... ugh.

I have bern canning for a couple of years, as well as having a freezer.
