I've spoken with a patriot friend about this exact topic! Look up Brutalist Architecture. I believe I did post about it here on AU. This architecture has been called cold, lifeless, featureless...some even say soulless. Others say these simple concrete and steel structures even evoke feelings of hostility and rudeness. Yes, very interesting! Utility over aesthetics!
