An aircraft carrying Malawi's Vice-President Saulos Klaus Chilima and nine others has gone missing, Malawi's presidency said Today‼️

"All efforts by aviation authorities to make contact with the Aircraft since it went off the radar have failed thus far," Malawi's Office of the President and Cabinet said in a statement.

Chilima, 51, was aboard a Malawi Defense Force aircraft that left the capital Lilongwe at 0917 local time (0717 GMT), the statement said, adding that search and rescue operations were ongoing.

A large-scale state-sponsored attack on a NATO member could trigger the bloc’s Article 5 collective defense clause and result in a military response, the chair of NATO’s military committee, Admiral Rob Bauer, said on Saturday.

"In NATO, we have agreed amongst all allies that, in principle, a cyberattack can be the start of an Article 5 procedure. So it's not only a physical attack, but also a cyberattack can be the basis of an Article 5 debate and of course result in the follow-on procedures," Bauer stated.

Data shows that since 2022, more than 350,000 asylum cases filed by migrants have been closed by the US government if the applicants don’t have a criminal record or are otherwise not deemed a threat to the country.

This means that while the migrants are not granted or denied asylum — their cases are “terminated without a decision on the merits of their asylum claim” — they are removed from the legal system and no longer required to check in with authorities.

Thick plumes of smoke were spotted bursting out of an under-construction skyscraper near One World Trade Center after a fire broke out on the building’s roof Wednesday morning.
No injuries were reported in the blaze at 125 Greenwich St., an under-construction residential building, to which firefighters responded around 9:20 a.m., the FDNY said.
Officials said the fire started in an HVAC system located on the 72-story building’s roof.
