There are good people. My neighbor came over last night and asked me if I needed her to go grocery shopping for me to pick up stuff because of the govt shutdown. The other one tried giving me fresh fish he caught. People care out there. She must have hugged me at least 5 times when I told her I was fine. Her husband had sent her to see if I was ok. It was sweet and made my heart full.

That is also our men/women in the military active duty. It also means vets don't get their retirement checks or my disability/VA benefits (not that its much). While the IRS I could care less about, I will NOT be cheering this.

No, the notice did not say you would be fired. We are being told to not respond and that the Dept of the Army will respond if and when they are required to.

yes..when you fly into GTMO you phone access is shut off. You have to use a phone there that has coverage on their communication network. I had to put my cell phone carrier in suspension while I was there as a CIV for 3 year and could activate whenever I flew back on leave.

Actually his main job was Gen Attorney. His collateral duty was uranalysis..He ensured the program ran. He didn't actually watch, usually a Petty Officer does that and they check for drugs. Its a routine thing in the navy. As a General Attorney, I doubt he flew planes though. he was legal/JAG.

From what I know having worked there 3 years is that the Norfolk one is not normal. The JAX is the rotator and the Jamacia is weekly. They also have another one weekly to PR. The Norfolk one, arrived way early too and is not at all normal and came from the base. Chambers field at naval Station. So that's odd.
