Yes, most scientist who are devout Christians, seem to agree that there are about 6000 years since mankind first breathed the breath of life. As far as the age of the earth, I can see that according to scripture, the marking of time didn't start until God separated the dark from the light and declared that was the first day. So it appears the dark mass of the lifeless earth could have existed for an indefinite period of time before God instituted time on that first day of the account of creation,
