You don't understand the implications of these laws. The goal is not to stop fake news, but to stop news that don't support the narrative of the government.

Run a story the government doesn't like, they will accuse you of fake news, and imprison your employees.

Laws like this basically mean only state-controlled and state-approved news are allowed. If you try to do news independently, you and your employees are now in danger of being disappeared on a whim.

So if you don't want to be a mouth piece for Putin and aren't willing to throw your employees to the wolves, your only option is to cease operations.

This is the whole "Lügenpresse" thing all over again and has nothing to do with exposing fake news.
