My guess is Demodex parasites - effectively treated with ivermectin:

Our daughter has had thinning hair for about 25 years - was treated with three ivermectin (12mg) - taken one week apart to kill any remaining Demodex eggs. Her hair and her eyelashes are growing in thick - looks like the parasite is gone....

My daughter had a bad case of head lice in high school - we were finally able to get rid of the head lice, but I think the Demodex mites stayed around to feast on her hair and eyelashes...

If you rub a small amount of castor oil on your eye lashes before bef they will grow. i can testify.
also, read that castor oil and alovera (sp) juice on your scalp at night with a plastic head cover will grow hair. i bought a plastic container from the dollar store like you would see at a restaurant sittimg on a table to squirt on my scalp. i know for a fact castor worked, i havent tried it on my scalp yet.
