American patriot living on a rock in the middle of the Atlantic
I don't know Malawi culture and standard of living but often these marriages are to relieve the burdens in the poorest of families who need to eat and survive, suffer drought and lack of water. Its a financial arrangement. Often they are not "consumated" until the girl is around 14. I have to stand with culture, the people living it know best. Who can "afford" to pay tuition to send their child to a school? Not many, and add the cost of uniforms, shoes, books and transportations the full cost lies with the parents. When our culture is burdened we must act, when others are we need to step back. We don't know. Circumstances in each culture can be vastly different.
Nothing personal, glad this was posted so I could speak on culture differences and assumptions. Thanks fren. Home schooling is an option.
