One thing I noticed is they were working in the shadows. Thought about guerrilla gardening (looked it up; some gardeners would rehab an eyesore spot in their community at night and surprise everyone next day). This led to looking up guerrilla warfare.
One phrase in Watnick's speech stood out: "warfare... ancient in origin."
It comes from a Special Forces Training manual I happened to stumble upon.
