What if all the hype about Project Blue Beam is to help those idiots (who still believe we are the only (supposedly) intelligent species in the galaxy) cope with the reality of alien disclosure? The progressive decloaking of alien ships will be real, but those who would be most shocked and vulnerable will get a few days to laugh it off as fake before reality creeps in.
