I've heard / read about Monks who fast for over a month(s) and not lose any weight, ditto with Ghandi and Jesus spoke of trials w/ satan by fasting for 40 days in the desert.
I believe it creates a higher state of being, perhaps by detoxing the body, and enhances the consciousness.
I did a detox fast that included steamed veg.s, but no dairy, animal protein or oil ... and its very doable, and boosts your immune system ... all the "extra" gets wasted, so the body is using what it needs and not storing excess.
