A degree simply means you are good at memorizing enough correct answers to test questions to merit a piece of paper saying that memorized enough test question answers correctly to get that piece of paper. It does not at all express any measure of intelligence, or wisdom especially. Some of the most confounding debates I have ever engaged in have been with those possessing degrees. Anyone who dedicates years of their lives, and hundreds of thousands of dollars investing in things you can literally "get for free" open source are fools I always thought. reading comprehension is the key to understanding anything transferred in text format. All educational textbooks are written for self-teaching, The instructor/professor/teacher is only there to assist those who cannot understand what they read well enough and need verbal coaching.
Questioning science IS science! Getting that through someone's head with a degree in any field of science is near impossible.
There was only one professor while I was in college, who just waved his hand & said he was teaching out of the book, so if we wanted to skip class most of the time it was ok, just check in to see where we were at in the textbook
That was back in the 80s & highly unusual to say the least
