is buying physical silver a good investment? how do you know when/where to sell it after it becomes a hot commodity

its like owning a home, as long as the value goes up, youve always got collateral, if you sell your collateral, all you have is cash, if all you have is cash, then all you have is cash,, and that it ridiculous.
