White House: America will impose sanctions against Putin and Lavrov.

After Great Britain, both the EU and US are preparing to impose sanctions against Russian President Vladimir Putin and Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

"The United States will join the EU and impose sanctions against President Putin, Foreign Minister Lavrov and members of the national security team," White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki told reporters. She said sanctions against Putin, which will be imposed later tonight, could include a travel ban.

The sanctions are introduced after the President of Russia launched a special military operation aimed at demilitarizing Ukraine.
