This is a great video to show people that these dogs are just as much heroes as the people who train them. Many people believe that a dog stays with his handler 24/7 and that is not the case. This is for both the dog and the handler. You work the dog then they go back to the kennel. Many think this is cruel but imagine if you worked with a dog 24/7 and they were always at your side. Now imagine the impact to both the dog and the handler if either one was killed. It could cause what I call rage think. That only gets people killed. The dog is given a few different handlers in their life so that if God forbid they ever did lose their handler they would be able to work with a new one. Big money is spent to train these dogs, tens of thousands so they must be adaptable. Same goes for the handlers. Any death is tragic and when a dog is lost everyone feels it. If you are/were a handler and you were able to take one home when they were retired you are indeed a very lucky person.
