truth about mt rushmore

Perspective. We did good things too. My ancestors came over on the Mayflower and I exist today because Squanto and the Wampanoag helped them to survive that first terrible winter. Massasoit (their sachem) and the Wampanoag helped because the Wampanoag were being attacked ruthlessly by the Naragansset Tribe and had been for many years. The Wampanoag needed the Pilgrims to help them fight off the Naragansset and other tribes so they entered into a treaty. That treaty protected both sides and held strong UNBROKEN for 54 years. There is much to be proud of in that. The First Thanksgiving celebrated in the fall of 1621 was a truly joyous celebration as half of the Pilgrims had died in the crossing and the winter and were so grateful to be alive. GRATITUDE. None of these people were perfect - we're human. But if we don't know our history and tell it accurately, we cannot learn from it or move forward with the knowledge gained from those who came before us.
