Sometimes it's not a good idea for old people on their deathbed to take on new pets, as the pets are likely to outlive their owners, thereby creating another homeless pet. Anyone trust the "family" to take care of this cat when the "owner" dies? Plus in this case, this is just a publicity stunt by the "owner."
