If you have listened to him, and the sequences of release & information he has laid out you would have had a great idea as we have progressed as to where we are going at each juncture of the battle.
Yes they have their dates of rituals and events, but this operation has the whole time been moved forward by the daily news cycles to get the the next event in the timeline. Knowing the end, but having to see each event that transpired to then chose the next move based on the move they made.
