Throughout the Bible, God was and still is focused on the expiration of events as well as the arrival of events to come... keyword: events
He has only been focused on the calendar or clock was with commands he gave to man, such as to march around the walls of Jericho for seven days. Otherwise, he was and is focused on events.
Yet, the apostles were told to go and spread the Word, not to go and warn everyone of His return. We are not to be concerned about His returned but focused on His witness.
What does witness mean in this case?

> To provide or serve as evidence of; to consider as an example.
> To testify to; bear witness of
> To be the setting or site of
> To attest to the legality or authenticity of (a document) by signing one's name.
> To furnish or serve as evidence
> To testify to one's beliefs - faith, religious, or otherwise
...
We are trained throughout life to be calendar and clock regulated - that is for the secular world and secular works. When it comes to our faith, we have to SHIFT from calendar and clock regulation to bearing His witness - period.
For what He went through not only for the 3 years of his ministry but for the 3 days He overcame the gates of Hades and now owns the keys of which, it has to bring Him pure joy to see all those that are bearing His witness.
This is something only we can bring to Him and that He can not create for Himself.
