it takes a lot of effort, to not be free.
one must constantly bite his tongue, toe the line, keep his head down. that’s what those who wish to enslave humanity prey upon — people’s willingness to not rock the boat in hopes of complying their way into a little success. all the while, ‘success’ is just a carrot dangled on a stick, ever increasingly growing out of reach, until a people forget what they even stood for, fought for, cared for. once the word freedom can no longer be tied to a feeling, that spark in your heart, apple pie, or the winds in the plains, then the dismemberment of free people would be complete. not a physical dismemberment, but a tactical and surgical neutering of the human spirit.

success should never be the metric we strive for, but freedom. one should hope to leave the world, his community, and most importantly, his family, more free than when he was born. it’s through freedom and opportunity that success can follow.
