I had a teacher force me to pick a hand in school too! I was crushed by that, it was something I was really proud of. Now that I’m older it really makes me realize how much they tried to stifle us and stunt our growth in school. I chose my right but can still write decent with my left!

It serves no purpose other than to stifle & frustrate the child, who reasons, "God gave me 2 hands & I'm not supposed to use one of them... why?"
My immediate choice was to rebel. I got my gran to go talk to them, knowing how pissed she'd be. She went nuclear.
One teacher had it in for me after that... I wrangled a way to get her fired about 6 months later - she didn't last the term.
Oh, I can be a very bad girl when I'm doing good in the world!
One of the BEST ways a child can rebel is to simply make themselves impossible to deal with, which is what I did, which is what helped me escape my pedo-loving abusive mother & got myself sent away to live with my grandparents... BEST result, ever!
Children are NOT stupid; the adults who treat them as if they are are the STUPID ones.

Well, with my mother, I'd already learned that "behaving & being good" don't get you anywhere except to TakenAdvantageOf, so I did what I could... to drive her fucking crazy so she'd throw me off on my Gran.
I was always on my BEST behavior around my gran. She knew why & we eventually went to court over it. And won.
