i was in the army 81-2 (?) stationed in berlin, saw Brandenburg gate in the pic many times, we were 110 miles behind the then iron curtain and the first line of defense if shit hit the fan, was in the honour gaurd when president Reagan came to Tempelhof airport , talked with a number of germans (OLDER) and they were glad we were there. served with pride along with the french and british sectors

The wall always seemed so surreal to me. So sad...families divided for decades. Just unimaginable.
