We all know that 12-25 is not Christmas. Even if it were, why do people equate the birth of Jesus with presents?

Christmas was created by capitalism. Our governments overtook a solemn day and turned that into an abomination, as if we need to be told one day a year to give to others.

Now the majority of citizens believe that you need to spend money on a gift in order to have love. Did we not learn that we alone are enough? What lesson are we teaching our children? Do we define our status as human beings by how much we can buy (while going into debt)?

Our worth is not defined by giving a gift, but by giving of ourselves. Who we are is enough. Instead of spending the holiday together, sharing our love, we are stressing out about the material world—which doesn't go with us after death.

This year, just stop. Stop the programmed dysfunction. We can all do without more "stuff." But we can't do without the love of others.

didn't anyone ever listen to Dr Suess? The grinch, Horton Hears a Who? Green eggs and ham?
