There has never been a divine right for a monarch, or religious leader to rule. This is a lie, like elections.

--You do not need a church to connect to God. All churches are the literal definition of breaking the first amendment as they are all using Jesus Christ and/or God's name in vain. There is no such thing as a middleman to God and there is no reason for everyone to have exact same beliefs.
