I do not remember the exact year, but the DS had car manufacturers install a way to steer, brake and speed up a vehicle. On Star was one such link. Paul Walker and Andrew Breitbart are two examples. Could not be proved, but scary none the less.
In the mid 80's they started installing tracking in the cars...every road had sensors installed...so as the car travels it's triggering the sensors in the pavement... like reading the barcode at the store check out...now there's a GPS electronics installed...and yes, they can turn your car off...and lock you inside... Amongst many other functions...and now with self driving cars...they can take you where "they" want you to go. And recording you has been an option for years.
