Sorry, but I have to correct this. Although St. Louis is a high crime city of murders, etc., the gun laws are rather lax there. I know because I live in the area. Gun shopping is easier than shoe shopping as long as you're not a felon. MO is a very red state where you're not even required to have a permit to carry.
