I am grateful not to be in the city, we were restricted last year but many places have it far worse.

This madness has to end soon, it is just getting out of control!

Cities are NOT a good place to be anywhere, too close in proximity to each other, when desperation hits. I would prepare now to find a casual small, country town and develop roots there. Visit / rent/ meet people and establish contacts. FIND OUT WHO LIVES there before moving.

That's what I did 14 years ago, sadly this small town has been over run by meth heads (as with many small towns) so it is no longer as safe as it was. 2 cops for 2500 people is not enough!

Yes that's true, I have heard of that too. So sorry, its unfortunate ... easier to live with modern conveniences and more people to pay for police etc. I think if I were to move it would be to North Carolina, inland towards the Mountains, still many Liberals, but more relaxed. Florida is definitely RED but serious critters, (alligators, mosquitoes, cockroaches.)
There's always something.

I would be content with a few hundred acres to call my own, I dream of being self sufficient :)

Think it is posible and start looking for it. Nothing like growing organic food. Start with where you are. Look up Joel Salatins books!
