Christ lives within those who believe in Him. He is the author of love. We are not to cover a light with a bushel basket, but we're to shine our light that He shines through us and share the light to show the way in love to others. True kindness comes from Him. There are some who show kindness with nefarious motives to get something they want = selfish.

Matt 5:…15Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a basket. Instead, they set it on a stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. 17Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets. I have not come to abolish them, but to fulfill them.
