Hearing Perry Como sing "Toyland" in 1968. I was just a kid, but I realized the message the song was imparting meant the end of innocence. I knew that this man was singing a song with genuine sadness in his voice. It disturbed me so deeply that I wept. What could be so painful to make him sing that way? My eyes were opened to the lies....

my mom sang that to me ever night. i loved it. when I grew up & started singing it to my son I finally understood the meaning. when you grow up (or in our case, wake up) you can't go back.
'once you pass it's portals, you may never return again'
don't be in such a rush to grow up.
