Old Testament - Refining the Hearts of Men. (Men in the beginning different than Men we know the word to mean today. ) This would be seeing into the Soul of men. Has to do with the material world of flesh - cracking open the stones to uncover/find the Gemstones within & the hard clay which needs to be "watered" in order to make it pliable, workable and used to do "The Will of God" which leads us into the Heavenly or Divine Higher Source Light of ALL Creation - THE SPIRIT.

New Testament - Renewing The Mind. This is removing the outer flesh (Earthly world & its teaching) to expose the True Inner hidden (Heavenly LIGHT) within which is Divine in Nature. This is The Light, Lamp or "Father, my Spirit I deliver up to Your Hands" - giving up "The Ghost" you could say & then allows you to do The Will of The Father (your Mind is Spirit - now you are One).

OT - Spirit to Soul (fallen)
NT - Soul to Spirit. (risen)
