I think they should be melted down.

I say don't remove them but write the true history about them being traitors to America and the world and record the fact that they were executed for their crimes.

There's a book "The World Without Us" describing what would happen to the natural and built environment if humans suddenly disappeared. After thousands and thousands of years, the last surviving human-made things would be....BRONZE !!
So...melting these down might be the best way to go. :)

We remember history and learn history so we don't go about making the same mistakes over and over. They must be rembered for what they were. They are trying to erase a history that does not put them in a good light. Like the fact that the first slaves in america were irish children and the first slave owner was black. Or that the KKK was a democrat thing. Or that most americans came here as endentured slaves. They want to erase their culpability in it all. I for one don't ever want to repeat the mistakes made since 1913.
